BiomaterialKIT – Practical and Pedagogical Experiment for more Sustainable Consumption
The project assumes that Biomaterials and Biodesign KIT will substantially reduce waste generation through prevention, reduction, recycling, and reuse through the principles of bio-design. The outcomes will achieve the environmentally sound management of knowledge of bio-materials and their life cycle, in accordance with the Bio-design KIT and its methodological frameworks, and significantly contribute to human health and the environment. The outcomes will also grow global partnerships for sustainable development, complemented by multi-actors that mobilise and share knowledge, expertise, technology and financial resources, to support the achievement of the sustainable development goals in both countries. The outcomes also encourage and promote effective public and society partnerships, building on the experience and resourcing strategies of stakeholders.
The cooperation between Portimao and Bayraklı Municipalities will be developing in the coming years first in the area of climate change but then will continue with Cultural Youth Exchanges, business trips and searching for common tourism opportunities.
Impact
The impact of the project is based on the knowledge transferred from the students to their wider circle, as well as the bio-based solutions to everyday life problems in the educational curriculums to ensure that people have the relevant information and awareness for sustainable development and lifestyles in harmony with nature. The main assumption is the visibility of the impacts through the learning about and understanding the use of bio-materials and the power of bio-design as a powerful tool. It can last a lifetime and a skill that students can leverage for personal use and in their future careers. The impact also enhances policy coherence for sustainable development.
